From a Spectator's Point of View . . .

. . . what a great performance!
Today, the Old Quarry 7th and 8th grade Symphonic band traveled to Burr Ridge Middle School to take part in the South Eastern DuPage band festival. After a morning spent preparing, the band went downstairs, took the stage at 11:45, and delivered an outstanding performance.

Following the performance, one member of the three-judge panel, spent about 20 minutes working through two of our songs, and really provided some thoughtful musical insights for our kids.

The entire event was wonderful to see. Congratulations to all of our band students, and a special thank you to Mr. Alongi for putting together such a worthwhile experience.

Below are a few pictures from the event. Click the images for a larger photo.

Lemont Band

What a great turnout we had for last week's band concert at Lemont High School. Thank you all for coming and supporting our students.

In case you missed it, here is a short video snippet of the performance.

Next Competition

Our next event will be our performance at a band festival in Burr Ridge. The festival will be held at Burr Ridge Middle School on March 9th.  This will be our first band competition in some time, so wish us luck!

You should have already received an email with details surrounding the Burr
Ridge event. Additionally, paper copies of
the itinerary for March 9 were distributed to students during the week of
February 19. If you did not receive this information, or have any questions, please contact Frank Alongi as soon as possible.

As we get ready for this event, the insignia above the doors in the band room seems especially timely.

"Mediocrity Is Contagious, So Is Excellence!"

As we and our students all work to be our best, we're hoping that same desire can't help but rub off on those surrounding us.

Off we go on another adventure!
